Maria Dougherty joined HDADvisors in June 2022. In Fall 2022, she will have her Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP), with a focus in community-engaged design and housing and eviction policy. She is currently a part of a variety of projects, including work for HousingForward Virginia, the Piedmont Housing Alliance, and the Virginia Statewide Community Land Trust.
Maria grew up in Louisville, Kentucky but was born in the southwestern mountains of Santa Fe, New Mexico and considers both places her home. She moved to Richmond in 2018, but first lived in Virginia as a student at The College of William and Mary, where she graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s of English in the first year of the joint degree program with the University of St Andrews in Scotland. Maria loves traveling and is always looking for new ways to learn and enjoy the world; this has led to a jack of all trades personal life with hobbies in silver-smithing, fire-dancing, and relief printing–keep Richmond weird! She lives in Westover Hills with her two cats and partner.
