Maggie Walker Community Land Trust
In 2016, HDA worked with a coalition of affordable housing providers and advocates to establish The Maggie Walker Community Land Trust—the first and only CLT in the Richmond region. We led the organization's startup and oversaw its recent expansions into Chesterfield and Henrico Counties, along with its designation as the City of Richmond's land bank. With our ongoing support, MWCLT grew from one affordable home sold in 2017 to more than fifty sold or under development as of 2019.
For ten years, HDA has functioned as the executive and program staff for this statewide housing policy nonprofit. By hosting conferences, writing policy guides, and convening conversations, HDA has helped Housing Virginia become a leading housing resource in the commonwealth.
